Michelle Wood

 I believe we are all given a choice and it is so important to find and work towards a purpose in our lives. Life is not without difficult challenges and hard times for anyone. My desire is to offer support, guidance and help to facilitate you in finding perspective when faced with uncertainty, hurt and struggle - no matter what form it may take.

I am a fully registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and committed to working ethically. www.bacp.co.uk

Counselling Sessions

I offer a 30-minute complimentary consultation to enable you to see if we are well suited to work together. This can be in person or via telephone at an agreed time. During our next session, I will carry out an assessment and identify your needs and expectations of counselling. This will help us to monitor any changes during, and at the end of therapy.

Short term and Long term work

 I offer both short and long term work. I have however found that committing to at least 6-10 sessions has more impact. Longer term work offers the support you need to work on a deeper level whilst providing ongoing support during a particularly difficult time.

Initial complimentary 30 minute session

50-minute sessions £40

50-minute on-line sessions £35

On-line Counselling

Some people may prefer some level of anonymity which is offered through working online, this could be via Instant Messaging or Voice with or without Video sessions. It can also offer the flexibility of not having to travel and fit in with busy lifestyles. For some it may not be possible to attend a face to face session for various reasons. This platform makes counselling accessible for anyone. Please contact me to find out more about the process. An initial face to face meeting to initiate the relationship will be required.

I have gained extensive experience working with young people and adults through agency work and within private practise. To support clients who would like to explore more creative ways of working I can also use various tools. such as characters, tactile objects, arts and crafts, stones, role-play, sand tray, etc. to facilitate the process of looking at and dealing with feelings and experiences to help make sense of your world and the meaning it holds for you.

Areas of work

I have worked therapeutically with clients dealing with;

Depression, Stress, Relationship break down or difficulty, Domestic violence and Addiction, Loneliness and Isolation, Grief & Loss and Trauma & Abuse. In young people, Anxiety and Panic attacks, Self-harm and Suicidal thoughts. Eating difficulties, Family break down, Anger, Identify, Transitions, Bullying and Exam stress are all issues some young people are facing and need support with.
